Dear Friends
As Christmas is approaching, I am reminded of a story about a young girl who grew up in a very influential family, but at a young age decided to dedicate her life to Christ. This decision unfortunately for her meant choosing Christ above her family. She left home and went to the mission station through whom she met Christ. Her elder brother came looking for her and found her working in the cow shed. He was very upset and scolded her: “How can you work in a place like this? You put your family to shame!” She responded: “This is the best place for me to be! Even breathing the air of the cow shed and even the cow dung I am privileged because this is the first air that our Lord Jesus breathed when He was born!” This young girl grew up to become a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Imagine that our Lord Jesus, coming from the most influential family in the Universe, was willing to forsake everything and came to this world, to be born in a stable, a cowshed, to save those that are lost.
This made me think of how many faithful servants of the Lord Jesus throughout the centuries were willing to forsake everything and go into the stables of this world to save those that are lost. Even today, you find missionaries willing to forsake friends and family, careers and future, to enter the lowest of this world to bring hope to those lost in their sins. How many faithful servants of our Lord Jesus, who cannot physically go themselves, faithfully pray and support those who can go. Dear friends, our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 19:29: “And everyone who have left houses or brothers or sisters, or father or mother, or children, or fields, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.”
Is this not the true message of Christmas? How can we thank our Lord Jesus enough for His willingness to forsake all for us? How can we thank those enough that are willing to lay down everything to go for our Lord? And how can we thank those enough that are willing to faithfully pray and support those that are going? Christmas time is a time of saying thank you.
We at Onseepkans Mission wants to say thank you. Thank you to our Lord Jesus for all that He did and is doing for us. Thank you to all our brothers and sisters who are faithfully serving our Lord in the mission fields where He placed you. Thank you for all who is making it possible for us and others to serve our Lord there where we are serving Him. Thank you for your prayer and support.
